Hat House

my favorite photo of the moment. taken at Harry the Hat's aka the 'Hat House'. one photographer that i admire greatly is Herman Leonard. he is an amazing person and highly accomplished photographer most well know for his Jazz archive. in that archive, he has quite a few portraits of Jazz musicians like Lester Young and Dizzy that are not portraits of them as people, but of their things. here's a shot of Herman's for reference...

that was my train of thought behind taking this photo at the time. a portrait of Harry, without him. i think it was a success. i will always love it.

i play model for red vignettes

lately I've been collaborating with my friend Nicole to experiment with her Polaroid Spectra, which she was lucky enough to find at a swap meet for $15. I'm envious of her find and her new toy. In order to cope with that envy, I've been her model for the red vignette filter and we are amassing a great series! we are in love and we hope you are too...

I've finally been turning some band photos from San Diego bands into album artwork for them! Last month, Roxy Jones released their 7" 'Chantal Goya' and in the works is a vinyl pressing for The Old in Out who are slated to use this as their cover...and here's what Megan and I looked like in the bathroom during the show where I took the second image.

lost in New York

I talked to a friend in New York yesterday and it reminded me of this amazing little coffee shop I stumbled on last year. It was so cute and quaint, but it had this really amazing downstairs area down a spiral staircase with paintings of twisted interpretations of Alice in Wonderland. I know it was somewhere near Katz' Deli, but I've yet to find it again. Here are some pics from my last visit there.

i'm a virgin

First blog in lieu of a working website at the moment. This is as official as it will get until my site is created. It's been a slow summer creatively so I'm using this as my motivation. Here are two images for wetting the palate. The first is a self portrait taken on Thanksgiving last year. I am nothing photographically without my self portraits. The second is a polaroid in Australia taken from the back seat. How I love my polaroid camera!
